Testing and Calibration Training

QC Training Services, Inc. has offered fundamentals of testing and calibration training since the early stages of being in the training business. Testing and Calibration are unique fields of metrology that are critical to day-to-day operations of manufacturing organizations, as well other businesses that provide goods and services. Consumable goods as well as many other products are priced according to their weight. And that weight is likely determined on a weighing scale tested and certified by a trained state or local inspector that works for an accredited laboratory. Good measurements play a significant role in our world, either thru legal metrology, physical metrology or dimensional metrology.

Training candidates will gain a foundational knowledge with entry level courses, and then become well equipped with advanced concepts of calibration and uncertainty through higher level workshops. Students will learn definitions and terms listed in International Vocabulary of Metrology (VIM) released by the Joint Committee for Guides in Metrology (JCGM). Standards Organization and Documentation Standards along with Calibration Management System are discussed as it pertains to testing or laboratories. Students are made aware of Measurement Uncertainty basics. Estimation of Measurement Uncertainty including budgets is also taught in some of the courses. Traceability to an International System (SI) unit thru “unbroken chain of comparisons” is key during the calibration process that transfers a reference value to the artifact or instrument under calibration. Several courses include a comprehensive review of the philosophies and requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, where the participant will gain an understanding of conformity assessment using the risks and opportunities-based approach.

Any individual working in the quality lab, calibration lab, or supporting the measurement and calibration functions of a lab including technicians, engineers, inspectors, operators, and administrative support personnel are ideal candidates for one or more of the courses offered under this category.
