Course Summary
This Lean Foundations training course helps participants learn the essentials of Lean, including concepts, terminology, waste identification, and standard Lean improvement frameworks (PDCA, A3). The course combines lecture, discussion, simulation, and hands-on application for both manufacturing and service/office environments. Participants will learn to recognize, solve, and sustain workplace improvements using core Lean tools.

- Differentiate Value Added vs. Non-Value-Added activities
- Recognize the eight sources of waste (DOWNTIME)
- Apply fundamental Lean tools and techniques, such as 5S, standard work, and visual management
- Understand inventory/process lead time relationships
- Identify differences between Strategic and Tactical Lean
- Recognize obstacles and success factors for Lean application
- Use Lean problem-solving methods (PDCA, A3)
- Identify, confirm, and solve workplace problems using Lean methodologies
