  • Delivery Option: On-Site Only
  • Subject Category: Technical
  • Number of Days: 1

Course Summary

This course is a practical, application-based program that is based on current ANSI standards and includes input from a broad cross-section of industries.

Target Audience

This program is designed for anyone who designs, drafts, engineers, purchases, manufactures, estimates or inspects parts or assemblies. Particular emphasis will be on those who manage the personnel listed and have the most direct concern for the bottom line in the design and manufacturing process.

Course Objectives

If you have been wondering what GD&T is, and what it can do for you and your company, this is the course for you. This program is a complete but very fast look at the Y14.5M Standard. In this program, we focus on the “what, when and why” of GD&T… thus, you don’t have to be an engineer to attend. You only need a desire to understand how GD&T can help you. The course is an introduction to those with little or no experience with GD&T.

Agenda

  • History of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Cost of designing and manufacturing a part
  • Comparison of the “old” (coordinate dimensioning and tolerancing) methods to the Y14.5M approach
  • Demonstration of the strengths of GD&T:
    • As a design tool
    • As a manufacturing aid
    • As a purchasing/estimating aid
    • As an overall communications facilitation tool

The one-day GD&T Management Overview is typically delivered as the first day of our 2-day GD&T – Fundamentals course. If you wish to register for the 2-day course, you will not be charged for duplicate registrations.
